Who we are . . .
Coastal Editing is a virtual company offering a full spectrum of publishing services ranging from proofreading and copy editing to developmental editing and ghostwriting. Please let us know what your needs and questions are; we are more than happy to help. Be sure to visit our Services page to see how we can help you with your next project.

If our enthusiasm isn’t enough to tempt you to give us a try, you’ll be pleased to hear that we bring twenty-five years of publishing experience to the table. We have worked in-house at publishing companies as well as being freelancers. We are published authors who know what it’s like to put your “baby” out there for someone else to scrutinize. We have had our own run-ins with scams and understand any hesitation on your part. We will not scam you; we will do what we can to help you. If we can’t help you, we’ll tell you that. We encourage you to ask lots of questions.

Being a virtual company simply means we exist as a company online; we do not have physical headquarters. The name "Coastal Editing" came from the two co-owners living on two different coasts. Cindi lives on the East Coast and Darya lived on the West Coast. While Darya is temporarily in Tennessee, she plans on returning to her West Coast home in the future. We work out of our home offices, sometimes in our sweats, but always at your disposal.

Cindi D. Pietrzyk is an author and editor based in Connecticut. She has published four books and has worked on countless others. She has been in the publishing industry since 1992 when she published her first article in the University of Connecticut's Daily Campus. From there she went on to become an editor at her hometown newspaper, the Durham Gazette, where she edited and wrote numerous articles. Eventually she moved into book publishing, which, as a friend said, is like learning to fast dance to a waltz. But, she found her niche and has been there ever since. She began her book publishing career at Globe Pequot Press, where she spent four years as an in-house editor before leaving to begin her family. While she left the life of an in-house editor, she started her freelance career, which she continues today. While her main client continues to be Globe Pequot, she has also done work for Rowman and Littlefield, Freeborn Design, Jacobs Writing and Publishing Consults, LLC, and Tell Me Press, as well as individual authors. Cindi lives in rural Connecticut with her husband, three daughters, three dogs, and three cats. She knows what it's like to put your words out there for another person to judge and care for. She promises to be understanding and thorough.
Darya Crockett has enjoyed editing and writing for many years. She has a background in the sciences, having graduated with a BS in biology in 1996 from San Jose State University in hopes of attending medical school. When that didn’t work out, she continued to work in the biology/chemistry field for twelve years, during which time she naturally gravitated toward editing and proofreading experimental protocols, standard operating procedures, and research papers. In 2008 she decided to begin a full-time freelance editing career. Although she loves to edit, writing has always been an integral part of her life, and she always manages to have something in progress. She has written short stories, children’s books, and even TV sitcom scripts . . . just for fun. Her clients range from individuals to publishers to marketing firms. She is thorough, sensitive to the author’s voice, and enjoys giving the author honest personal feedback while editing, even laughing and crying right along with the characters. While Darya currently lives in northeast Tennessee, she has active plans to return to the West Coast.
